Message from the Chairman Trust

Dr. Maj (Retd.) Yousaf Akhtar, Chairman Board of Trustees
Capt Muazzam Ali Shaheed Welfare Trust

“Welcome to Captain Muazzam Ali Shaheed Welfare Trust – CMAST!

I must share with you the Vision, Mission and History of the Trust, so that you should be able to appreciate the cause and must relate to it as your own.

Captain Muazzam Ali Shaheed Welfare Trust (CMAST) is operating as a welfare trust formed under the Trust Act 1882. The Trust earlier worked as a Voluntary welfare organization under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance, 1961. CMAST is now, governed by a Board of Trustees (BOT) having representation from both public and private sectors. All the Trustees work on a voluntary basis and at the same time make significant personal financial contributions to the hospital. They work together to assure successful development and implementation of procedures, documentation and work flows for managing inflow of donations and fund utilization , with special emphasis on handling Zakat funds as per Islamic/Sharia requirements.

The Hospital has been established in compliance with the wishes of my Shaheed son CaptMuazzam Ali. Accordingly, I decided to serve the poor and needy through a charity hospital in my home town of Jhelum. I only had a dream and determination to live that dream. I had very meager financial resources to undertake this task but was encouraged by my earlier experience of establishing a school for the mentally challenged children of poor families that I started in 1985. The Al-Qasim school now has over 100 special children who are provided free education, uniforms and transport.

The Journey that I started with a 15 beds hospital in 1998 has blossomed into a 49 bed state of the art hospital. It is now incumbent upon you to carry forward my mission.

CMASH is fortunate to have a team of professionals that is dedicated to the cause of serving the poor and the needy. Each member of the team is highly respected in the society and respective professional circles as men of impeachable integrity. The team comprises of such varied skills as specialist doctors, a software solutions provider, a senior chartered accountant, a consultant, a financial expert and others.

At the end I thank you for visiting our Website and look forward to your ongoing support for this noble cause. I also invite you visit our hospital at your convenience to see how your donation is helping us to provide the healthcare to the needy and destitute.
